David Milln
I am an experienced Music Technology teacher, music producer and professional composer with over 20 years of teaching experience. I currently teach Pearson Edexcel A-Level Music Technology at Bryanston School and offer individual tuition for students studying the A-Level, as well as support with the music technology and production elements of GCSE Music. I can provide support across all areas of the A-Level Music Technology course, including recording, music production, mixing, synthesis, MIDI, audio theory, listening and analysis, and preparation for the written examinations. Tuition can be tailored to a student’s individual needs, whether they require ongoing support alongside their school studies, help with a particular area of the specification, exam preparation, or greater confidence with practical production skills. With many years of classroom experience, I understand that students often find the technical language and concepts within Music Technology challenging. My approach is patient, supportive and practical, breaking more complex topics down into clear, manageable steps while helping students understand how they apply in real-world music production. Alongside teaching, I work professionally as a media composer and music producer, with music placements on Netflix, Channel 4 and ITV, and experience composing and producing music for film, television, games and other media. I am also an Guest Lecturer in Game Audio at the University of Southampton, teaching undergraduate game design students about music, sound and interactive audio for video games. My aim is to help students develop their technical knowledge, practical skills and confidence, while providing focused support that complements the work they are already doing at school or college.
Ben Faux
At Benana Music Studio, we believe music lessons should be built around the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. We teach children, teenagers and adults of all abilities, from complete beginners picking up an instrument for the first time through to more experienced musicians wanting to develop their technique, confidence, creativity or performance skills. Our lessons are bespoke to each student. Depending on their goals, sessions can include technique, repertoire, music theory, improvisation, songwriting, composition, performance preparation and learning the music they genuinely enjoy. Students who would like to work towards graded qualifications can also receive structured exam preparation, including RSL Awards/Rockschool where appropriate. We place a lot of importance on matching each student with the right teacher. Benana has a diverse team of experienced tutors covering singing, piano, guitar, bass, drums, flute, songwriting and music production, allowing us to find a teaching style and personality that works well for each individual. A typical lesson will usually combine focused skill development with practical music-making. Rather than simply working through a textbook from beginning to end, our teachers adapt lessons around the student's progress, interests and longer-term goals. We also encourage students who want to take their music further, with opportunities to perform at showcases, meet and play with other musicians, develop original music and progress into rehearsing and performing in a real music environment. Above all, our aim is to create lessons that students look forward to while helping them make genuine, measurable progress at their own pace.
